The Brief

To create an app that is easy to use for local residents and visitors to check the latest coronavirus advice on the town. The local council needed a way to be able to quickly communicate with the public to let them know about the safety measures that are taking place, as well as the shops and restaurants that are open for business.

The Outcome

The new Visit Middlesbrough App is now available in the iOS and Android app stores.

It provides a tool for residents and visitors to see the latest news, valuable safety information around the covid crisis, an up-to-date listing of local shops and restaurants that are open for business and realtime footfall data from the town centre.

The app is built upon Google’s Flutter framework, allowing a clean design to act beautifully and seamlessly on both iOS and Android Platforms. It’s a breeze for admins to manage content using Sanity Studio, an open source headless real-time Content Management System.

Building blocks for the future

As well as a useful tool for users visiting the town, it also acts as the foundation for new features that can help users engage with the city and view up-to-date information from various data sources.
